Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between psychotherapy and counselling?

Generally, if you’re struggling with your mental health, feeling overwhelmed or emotionally vulnerable because of something that is happening or has happened to you, then psychotherapy offered by someone suitably qualified, like myself, is the way forward.

If you feel emotionally robust but stuck, you might benefit from coaching. Coaches work in all areas of life, from career coaching to spiritual coaching. I am a life coach. As such, I aim to help get to where you want to go in life. This includes setting and achieving goals, navigating life changes, and finding a way of thriving instead of surviving..

Can I have psychotherapy and coaching at the same time?

No. My preference is to work with you either as a psychotherapist or as a coach. However, there is the possibility of switching between psychotherapy and life coaching during the work. When this happens, I ask for a one-week break to allow space between the different ways of working.

I don’t live in Edinburgh, can I still work with you?

Yes. I offer sessions online using Google Meet. You do not have to live in Edinburgh to see me.

Are you registered with a professional body?

Yes. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. My membership number is 120215.

Do you work with couples?

No. I work with individuals only.

How much do you charge?

I charge £75GBP per session.
